Veggie CSA 2014

2014 CSA Winnipeg CSA spots Full!

What is a CSA? (Community Supported Agriculture)

A CSA brings farmers and their customers closer together, in a beneficial and direct relationship.  Customers pay a pre-determined fee in advance of the growing season; in return they receive a weekly share of produce.  Paying up front means customers as well as the farmers share in the risks from weather and other unforeseen factors beyond the farmer’s control.

How our CSA works

We have two options for Vegetable CSAs this year:

Weekly Delivered Baskets

Half share $325
Full share $525

  • Half Share 15 weeks starting in June, feeds 1-2 average veggie eater or 1 veggie lover!
  • Full Share 15 weeks starting in June, feeds a family of 3-4 or 2 veggie lovers!
  • We have an installment plan so you don't have to make a large lump-sum payment so far in advance
(full share deposit $225 and two $100 posted cheques dated May 1st and June 1st)
(half share deposit $125 and two $100 posted cheques dated May 1st and June 1st)

Rural drop off locations,  New this year we will be be delivering to a number of communities around the farm including Pierson, Waskada, Deloraine and Melita.

Winnipeg drop off locations, New this year if we have enough interest we will be adding a south St. Vital pick up location TBD. As well as last years pick up locations, are Red River General Store (5700 Henderson Hwy), River Height Farmers Market (1370 Grosvenor Ave), and the Gas Station Theatre Farmers Market (Osbourne Village-445 River Ave).

Market Cards

We were inspired to offer this option for our customers, based on an example in New York city.  The idea is to offer a flexible option for those who can't fully commit to weekly deliveries of baskets.  It allows you to decide how much you want to spend over the summer, and when you want to spend it.  You will be able to use your Market Card at all our farmers market locations, and On Farm veggie purchases (the card will only work when purchasing produce directly from Food Ethos Farm).

So, for example if you think you will only spend $200 on your veggies over the summer, you can signup for a $200 card, and come to any location we sell at, and buy whatever produce you wish, if you don't want cucumbers one week then you don't have to buy them.

With the card you will receive a 10% discount on your purchase, until you have exceeded your balance, you can then choose to pay regular market prices, or re-up your balance on your card.  All funds on market cards are non-refundable, so you want to make sure not to up your card too much.

The card itself will be a punch card and we will punch out each purchase you make over the season, we will also keep track in our own records, so if you loose your card we can replace it!

To register for a CSA weekly share, or a Market Card please download a registration form print it, and fill it out. Send it to Box 535 Melita Manitoba R0M 1L0, along with your deposit, and post dated cheques for future installments.  Cheques can be made out to Food Ethos Farm.

If you have any questions that are answered on here or the registration form, don't hesitate to contact us!
